A dog sledge tour – 3 days in the wilderness and visit to Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq - SOLD OUT

Experience 7 days in the cold clear winterworld of Greenland, where you spend 3 days on a small dog sledge tour taking you 180 km across the country from Sisimiut to Kangerlussuaq. Experience the wilderness from its most beautiful side, when the northern light, the baying of the dogs, the creaking snow and the huge wide landscapes come together giving you an experience for life.

Programme

Day 1
Check in at Copenhagen Airport at 07.00hrs, departure by air at 09.15hrs arriving at Kangerlussuaq at 09,45hrs local time (it's a time difference of 4 hours). The same day we continue by air to Sisimiut, where you will be accommodated at the Seamen's hostel (Sømandshjemmet). In the afternoon an information meeting will be held about the dog sledge tour to Kangerlussuaq.

Day 2
You have the day on your own. Take a walk in the city, which is one of the bigger city on this northern latitude or look at the possibilities for adding an excursion here.

Day 4-5
After breakfast it is a transfer to "Vandsøen" (the Water lake), where the sledges await and ready to go. The sledges are packed and the three days dog sledge tour starts. It is appr. 180 km to Kangerlussuaq, so the tour is about 60 km every day in a very beautiful area over impressive mountains, lakes, rivers and fiords, which on this time of year are frozen. On the sledge there is 1 or 2 passengers, the driver and full marching equipment. The nights you spend in huts or if necessary in tents.

Day 5
Arrival at Kangerlussuaq later in the afternoon, where you say good bye to the driver and the dogs. Accommodation at the Youth Hostel Old Camp followed by an information meeting, same place. Dinner at the restaurant Roklubben (the Rowing Club).

Day 6
Excursion to the Ice Cap – 5 hours, in cross-country vehicles. Lunch packs included, which you can enjoy together with the impressive nature. On the tour it's possible to see reindeer and musk oxen. The tour takes you to the edge of the ice cap, with possibilities to take a walk onto the ice. Here the last evening we may enjoy a Greenlandic buffet, which is an unforgettable experience with over 30 different dishes made of Greenlandic raw material such as shrimps, fish, home smoked as well as fried musk oxen, reindeer, "mattak" (raw whale skin), scallops and much more.

Day 7
After breakfast it's transfer to the airport for departure to Copenhagen. Arriving in Copenhagen in the evening.
