Summer in North Greenland - in the gleam of the midnight sun
Our big round trip in the north – 12 days in Qeqertarsuaq (the Disco Island), Ilulissat and Uummannaq. By air, helicopter and boat filled with impressive experiences

Experience the highligths of North Greenland on an exciting round trip of 12 days. The large wide open spaces in Qeqertarsuaq with the Lyngmark Glacier, where it is possible to take a dog sledge tour – even in the summer, the many famous icebergs in Ilulissat and finally the hartshaped mountain in Uummannaq with the home of Santa Claus far north, also called the "real Greenland".

The tour starts by air plane via transit in Kangerlussuaq to Uummannaq, which is one of the most northern cities in Greenland. Here you find people for whom traditional hospitality is not only a question of kindness - but of survival. After 3 days on the small island, where Uummannaq is situated, the tour returns to Ilulissat.

Ilulissat with its huge and famous Ice Fiord has become a natural centre in North Greenland for tourism, trade as well as for politics. Here you can spend the days with shorter or longer trekking tours to the Ice Fiord. Hotel Icefiord, which is your base on your stay in Ilulissat, is situated such that you easily can enjoy the view towards the Ice Fiord as well as over the ocean.

After 3 more nights the tour continues with the passenger ship to Qeqertarsuaq on the Disco Island. Here you will meet a smaller city (appr. 1.000 inhabitants), which with its green surroundings is something special at this northern latitude. From Hotel Disko, where you will be staying, you may go exploring the warm springs and the rich flora, while the ocean often bids you a sight of playing humpback whales. If you are well trained it's also a possibility to walk up to the Lyngmark Glacier, with the heigth of 8-900 metres. Here even the summer guests can get a chance to join a dog sledge tour.

After 3 days with intense experiences on the green island, the tour takes you back to Ilulissat, where you have one more full day to get the last impressions from Greenland before you cross the Atlantic on your way back home.
